Then the role of Textile- & Print Designer in ferm LIVING is the opportunity you have been waiting for. You will be referring to our Creative Director
and will, in collaboration with the rest of our in-house design team, be responsible for ensuring that ferm LIVING continuously creates products that make an impression in line with our design DNA and where aesthetics and functionality is in focus.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Your main task will be to design and develop textile products and graphic prints (for example wallpaper design) across our different product categories - including both our LIVING and KIDS segments. You will work closely together with the other members in our design team, where we have design meetings twice a week to evaluate and discuss the products we are working on.

A design process includes tasks such as brainstorming, sketching, conceptualizing, technical specifications (mainly 2D drawings), colour and material research, prototyping etc. When our Creative Director approves a design, and the technical drawings are done, you will also have a close co-operation with a product manager in developing the design into a finished product. This
can include solving design questions, providing solutions to technical issues, correcting prototypes, updating our technical specifications, supervising production standards and qualities, etc. The overall task is to deliver the product on time, in the right look and quality, to the right price point and always with sustainability and responsibility in mind.

You are also expected to perform some managerial tasks related to design management, collection organization and product development. These tasks might include communicating directly with suppliers and manufacturers, managing deadlines for design and product development, building up inspiration material- and mood boards, putting together design presentations, and keeping a general coordination of the projects you are involved in. Other tasks include collaborating with the marketing team in the writing of product texts, helping to solve design-related questions or developing tech sheets based on other’s designs, and creating drawings for packaging and manuals.

You are a strong Designer with a profound understanding of your craft. You are expected to be on top of tendencies and are courious to explore new product ideas and will thrive in a dynamic environment being a true brand ambassador.

You have:
• A visionary and fast-paced way of working, but you are also able to deliver a project based on strict design guidelines.
• A strong creative mind that understands and shares ferm LIVING’s design DNA and can transform that understanding into beautiful, functional and responsible products and concepts.
• The ability to follow a brief and communicate technical issues and design issues verbally and through drawing.
• Great teamwork skills but are also able to work independently on tasks and meet key deadlines.
• You enjoy to work in a fast-paced and design-driven environment.
• The ability to effectively work on multiple design projects at once.
• Strong IT skills and are a superuser in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Relevant education (textile & construction technical knowledge) and minimum five years of working experience within the interior or fashion industry.
• Know-how from experience that being an excellent designer also requires structure, planning, focus and great attention to detail.
